Senior Deputy Headteacher – Culture & Ethos: Mrs S Kadri (S.Kadri@bb-hs.co.uk)
We aim to ensure that staff and students have positive attitudes to all learning experiences, and are self-respecting, generous and thoughtful members of the school community who believe in what we intend to achieve. Driven by values of pride, respect and kindness, our culture and ethos ensure that students build the habits of heart and mind that allow their learning to thrive through repeated and consistent practice.
Deputy Headteacher – Teaching & Learning: Mr A Leese (A.Leese@bb-hs.co.uk)
We deliver learning experiences of the highest quality, expertly planned and taught, with an unwavering drive to help every student succeed. However, when students do not know how to learn, teaching is fruitless. We aim for our students to become expert learners. They should be self- regulating, aware of their own progress and able to think about their own learning, but also able to lose themselves in tasks and experience ‘flow’. They should be willing to take risks and try a variety of approaches and be independent while they are doing it. They should feel the intrinsic buzz of learning for its own sake.
Deputy Headteacher – Curriculum: Dr A Mitchell (A.Mitchell@bb-hs.co.uk)
We ensure that the curriculum we offer our students suits them and our high aspirations for them. We foster connections between curriculum areas. We believe that skills depend on knowledge and our knowledge-rich curriculum lays the foundation for our students to develop their skills effectively. The school also knows that our students will play their best and fullest part in the world when they know the best that has been said, written and done, so we make reading and developing cultural capital central to all parts of the life of our school. While we are unashamed of the idea that a high-quality traditional classroom experience is often the best and most fruitful way to create students who will flourish in the rest of their lives, we also believe that school is a time for seminal, memorable experiences that do not fit into this pattern. Our students might visit the wonders of the world on a trip, they might overcome their fears and perform on stage, they might have a life-changing impact on those beyond our gates, but for many of our students, they will not have these experiences if we do not offer them. We want to offer our students some unforgettable spots of time.
Assistant Headteacher – Mathematics: Mr M Goodwin (M.Goodwin@bb-hs.co.uk)
We ensure that all students within mathematics are provided with appropriate opportunities to make rapid and sustained progress in their learning and achieve outstanding outcomes.
Assistant Headteacher – Sixth Form: Miss C Alford (C.Alford@bb-hs.co.uk)
Students can expect high standards of teaching and learning leading to academic success. Our curriculum offer reflects the national changes. We offer a broad suite of qualifications including A Levels, BTEC Level 3 National Qualifications, the Extended Project Qualification and enrichment activities to develop personal, social and employability skills. In addition, GCSE English and/or Maths resits ensure that all learners leave with these vital qualifications. All Sixth Form students take part in our tutorial programme and extra-curricular activities. There is a separate prospectus for the Sixth Form which is available upon request.
Progress Director – Transition: Mr A Jackson (A.Jackson@bb-hs.co.uk)
The transition process is facilitated by the strong partnerships we have with our local primary schools with whom we work closely to ensure that transfer and progression are as smooth and effective as possible. We have an experienced team that organises and implements a broad range of activities and there is an induction programme for both students and parents to help with this process and introduce you to our community.
Progress Director – SENCO: Mrs S Owen (S.Owen@bb-hs.co.uk)
We strongly believe that all students should have every opportunity to achieve their own personal best. A team of specialist staff make up our Assisted Learning Department which provides essential support in the classroom, in small groups or on a one-to-one basis. All students with an identified special educational need have individual classroom support plans and are allocated a key worker.
Director of Business & Finance: Mrs W Keeble (W.Keeble@bb-hs.co.uk)
We ensure that our school facilities and environment encourage our students to appreciate and respect the opportunities available and embrace their education at Blythe Bridge High School & Sixth Form.
