Our uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the positive ethos of the school and maintaining high standards.
It is expected that girls wishing to wear a skirt to school, should wear the compulsory Blythe Bridge High School skirt, which should show the blue band and be knee length. Alternatively, for girls and boys, black suit style/tailored trousers are also acceptable. We do not permit jeans, jeggings, tapered trousers or tight, stretchy trousers; this means they must be wider at the hem than at the knee and loose enough for the hem to cover the back of the shoe. The only sweaters or fleeces allowed in school are those that form part of the school uniform. In addition, all students are expected to wear black, flat leather school shoes, no canvas shoes or trainers. Hoodies should not be worn to school; a plain dark outer coat is acceptable but no denim, leather or brightly coloured coats with large motifs or slogans.
We would also like to draw your attention to our policy on hair, make-up and jewellery. We do not allow extreme hair styles such as lines or strips shaved into the hair, unnatural colouring of hair or holiday braids. Minimal, natural looking make-up is allowed and we allow clear colourless nail polish to be worn. Importantly, acrylic or false nails are not allowed and students will be asked to remove them. Jewellery should be limited to a wrist watch and one pair of studs in the ear lobes (one in each). Piercings of any sort are strictly forbidden.
We consider smart dress to be very important for all students and appreciate parental support in ensuring that high standards are maintained. As a school we monitor students’ uniform and also regularly reward those students who consistently wear their uniform with pride and respect our high expectations. Students attending school wearing the incorrect school uniform without a clear written explanation from parents/carers, may be sent home to change into correct school uniform before being allowed into lessons.
If you are unsure of the suitability of a garment, please check the school website before purchasing.
